About Us
Why We Got Started
Afterlete was born from CEO Tyler Witt's own experience transitioning out of football. In a conversation with his therapist, Tyler realized that the challenges he was facing as a retired athlete was mainly the overwhelming sense of isolation, as few truly understand the depth of what they’ve gone through.
Life as an athlete is all-consuming, and when it ends, the transition can be incredibly difficult. At the time, Tyler noticed a lack of resources tailored to help athletes navigate this transition successfully. While many organizations claimed to offer support, they often felt shallow and failed to address the real mental health struggles athletes face.

Tyler knew athletes needed something more—something where they could find understanding, compassion, and real guidance among other athletes in the same situation. This realization sparked the creation of Afterlete.
Afterlete is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by retired athletes to support their peers in navigating life after sports. Recognizing the unique challenges faced during this transition, Afterlete offers a comprehensive support system tailored to the needs of retired athletes.
The organization provides a safe space for personal growth, connection, and career transition, ensuring that all participants are surrounded by individuals who share their unique experiences.
By fostering a sense of community and understanding, Afterlete empowers retired athletes to embrace their new journey with confidence and resilience.
